Robert B. Coambs, Ph.D. President & CEO
Dr. Coambs received his doctorate in Psychology from the University of Toronto. Primarily a behavioural epidemiologist, this approach is reflected in all of his work. Dr. Coambs has conducted research in opioid addiction, benzodiazepine use, tobacco control, prescription drug non-compliance and has conducted physician training on these topics. He is a member of the Canadian Council on Tobacco Control and a consultant to the Ontario Medical Association and to the Ontario Tobacco Research Unit. Dr. Coambs is listed in the Canadian Who's Who, and has done hundreds of media interviews regarding his work.

Gésine L. Alders, B.Sc. (Hons.), Pre-Doctoral Fellow Senior Research Associate
Gésine received her Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 1996 from the University of Toronto. She is currently completing her Ph.D. at the University of Regensburg, Germany. Her dissertation is concerned with the changes in neuropsychological functioning in and the differential diagnosis of persons with Parkinson's disease, multiple system atrophy, Steele-Richardson-Olszewski syndrome and corticobasal degeneration.

Anusha Santhiapillai, Ph.D. Senior Associate
Dr. Santhiapillai received her Doctorate in Measurement from the University of Toronto and her Master's degree in
Education and Statistics from Harvard University. Her dissertation was concerned with the methodology of smoking cessation and predictors of smoking cessation in youth.
Brian Ferguson, Ph.D. Senior Associate
Dr. Ferguson received his Ph.D. in Economics from the Australian National University, with thesis research on the economic implications of population aging. He is currently an associate professor of Economics at the University of Guelph. His chief areas of interest are health economics and demographic economics. His recent research endeavors include a time series analysis of expenditures on physician services in Canada, an investigation of the effect of liberalization of alcohol availability on the consumption of alcohol in Quebec, a dynamic model of the demand for cigarettes in Canada and a theoretical analysis of the Rational Addiction Model.
Minghao Her, M.A. Associate
Minghao received her Master's Degree in Economics from the University of Guelph. She is currently a health economist. Her previous research included alcohol availability policy and consumption, the economic costs of substance abuse, the demand for cigarettes by teenagers and adults and economic modeling and forecasting.
Fernando De Maio, B.A. (Hons.), M.A., Doctoral candidate Research Assistant
Fernando received his Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Economics in 1999 from the University of Toronto. He completed his M.A. in Sociology and Health Studies at the University of Essex. He is currently working on his Ph.D. in the Sociology Department at the University of Essex. His research is primarily concerned with the health effects of social inequality.
